The Christmas Carol, 1999
MY ROLE
Illustration.
THE CLIENT
Micawber Fine Editions.
THE CONCEPT
Commissioned to create a dozen illustrations for the well-known novel The Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.
THE ILLUSTRATION
I read the story and did a lot of research into the time period and Dickens. Everyone is familiar with this story. What I found interesting, and what I eventually incorporated into the mood of the illustrations, was the darkness in the heart of society during that time in England.

Roman Fever, 2008
MY ROLE
Illustration.
THE CLIENT
Art Students League of Denver and Stories on Stage.
THE CONCEPT
Dozen of artists were invited to interpret a short story. Then the art pieces were included in a performance with actors reading the story and the artworks projected on a screen.
THE ILLUSTRATION
I chose a story called Roman Fever by Edith Wharton. My interpretation is pretty literal. I also used some symbols in the artwork as clues about the story.

Summer and Winter, 2005
MY ROLE
Art direction and illustration.
THE CONCEPT
The piece was created for an invitational show in which each artist was required to collaborate with another artist.
THE ILLUSTRATION
I chose to collaborate with my brother on these pieces. We agreed to use two old photographs of us as children: one from winter and one from summer. I painted us as kids and he collaged around us using imagery that was reminiscent of our childhood experiences.

THE ILLUSTRATION
I created a series of illustrations to accompany the text of a popular story by Oscar Wilde, The Portrait of Dorian Gray.

These Are Not Our Hats, 2005
MY ROLE
Artist.
THE ARTWORK
These were just two in a series of oil paintings painted in a typical historical portrait fashion.

The Dubliners, 1998
MY ROLE
Illustration.
THE CLIENT
Micawber Fine Editions.
THE CONCEPT
Commissioned to create a dozen illustrations for the well-known novel The Dubliners by James Joyce.
THE ILLUSTRATION
Dubliners is a collection of stories. I created an illustration for each story. I wanted the illustrations to have small little figures or objects in different combinations pulled straight from the text to add a kind of mystery and secret that would entice someone into reading the story.

Let Them Come, 2009
MY ROLE
Artist.
THE ARTWORK
I created a series of self-portrait paintings that hinted at the internal world of the subject.
